Nous is building decentralized AI systems, such as their Hermes LLM, as a counterbalance to the centralized models like ChatGPT, Grok, etc. that we all use. While GPT and other powerful models like it are great, they are also at risk of being controlled by corporations that can exert influence and censor the models based on desires or demands of the governments or other interests in the countries where their corporate entities reside. Nous' focus on open, censorship-resistant models is vital to ensuring alternative LLMs exist from the models that are controlled by powerful corporate giants. Given the transformative nature of AI, it is critical that we support groups like Nous that are looking to provide an open source and widely accessible alternative to corporate AI systems.
